NIXON, Jane (Jean) Swindell (nee Bradshaw)   -  August 20, 1934 – May 2, 2020

With heavy hearts but also joyous souls we announce that Jane (Jean) Nixon ascended into heaven to be with her Lord after a long and tiring battle with Dementia.

Jane, known to her family and friends as Jean, led a wonderfully full life!

What a fun lady to have as a Mum and a friend; quick-witted, a prankster, not so great a singer, known best for her big beautiful smile, a friend to all, ballroom dancer, neighborhood tennis semi-pro and someone who could make you feel like you are the most important person in the room; she was an excellent example to us all.

Jean lived through WW2, immigrated to Canada…twice, loved her homeland Scotland but stayed in Canada because her children, Jane (Mark) Irwin, Jackie (Larry) Rodgers and John (Kerrie) Nixon, were her life and whom she loved fiercely.

Her 12 grandchildren, Calvin (Brie), Brent (Heather), Ginnie, Shane (Stephanie), Meghann (Jarrad) Irwin; Travis, Braydon (Tara), Hope Rodgers; Jamie, Christi Chute, Cadence, Judah Nixon brought her absolute joy along with her 8 great-grandchildren.

In 1956, Jean married John Nixon and loved him still, 30 years past his death.

Losing the love of her life at 55 didn’t stop her from living life to the fullest and she travelled the world making friends and memories along the way.

Jean is survived by her brother, Matthew Bradshaw and sister Marion Ross, and Bob & Jean Nixon and Janetta McKinven.  Jean/Mum/Grannie will be missed by oh so many, but we take comfort knowing that she is now with her loved ones that have gone on before, is with her Lord, and is waltzing through the clouds with the love of her life.

Private funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations to either Sick Kids or Children’s Wish would be greatly appreciated as she herself believed in and supported these charities.

A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Reachview Village who made her last few and most difficult years full of laughs and love.
