ABBOTT, Robert Andrew Abbott  - It is with incredible sadness that Robert aka Bob peacefully passed away on June 6, 2020 at the age of 81.

He will be greatly missed by all his family especially his loving wife of 60 years Loretta and 3 children Linda (Armin), Rob (Mandy) and Mark (Loralouise).

Family was very important to Robert and he took great pride in working hard to love and support them.

He was also a loving grandfather to Derek, Jason, Brandon, Alicia and Sarah known for slipping chocolate bars into coat pockets and providing an endless supply of ice cream treats and pop during visits.

He was also very happy to be a great-grandfather to Ellie and Emma and lit up with much happiness when they came for a recent visit.

Born April 18, 1939 in Toronto, Ontario he was the second son to Percival and Blanche Abbott and brother to Percival Ross, Eva, Joan and Paul.

Robert lived in the Toronto area most of his life and then moved to Whitby during his retirement years.  He enjoyed yearly trips to Jekyll Island, Georgia to escape the winter cold and hobbies such as fishing and gardening - especially riding his motorcycle.

In 2008 he began a battle with lung cancer, but with the amazing love and support of his wife Loretta, devoted family physician Dr. Michael Gertler and the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre he was able to win this battle.

Sadly, the last year came with the long-term effects of having had lung cancer.

Arrangements with the McEachnie Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
