Sutherland WilliamSUTHERLAND, William Griffin 'Bill' - (October 28, 1943 – August 19, 2020)

William (Bill) Sutherland passed away peacefully at Oshawa General Hospital on August 19, 2020.

Devoted and loving husband to Valerie for 55 years, a wonderful Dad to Bill (Andrea) and David (Lucie), and a fantastic papa to Kay, Jill, William and Jonathan.

Bill was proud of Kay for graduating from Western University this year, he was happy that Jill accepted a soccer scholarship at Saint Leo University in Florida, and he was pleased that William and Jonathan were having so much success with their hockey.

Bill leaves behind his sister Jane (David), his sister in law Maria (Malcolm) and brother in law William. Bill will be missed by all his nieces and nephews, his relatives and friends in England and here in Canada.

Bill was born in Greenock, Scotland and spent the majority of his youth in Findhorn, a small fishing village in Moray on the eastern shore of Findhorn bay. Bill followed in the footsteps of his dad and uncles and trained to be a baker.

After Moving to Liverpool to work the ships of the merchant navy he met and married Valerie in 1965, eventually moving to Canada in 1969, where the family settled.

Bill enjoyed working at Home Depot and all the time spent with his co-workers. This was his final job before retirement.

Bill was a passionate Liverpool F.C. fan, following from afar, but not missing any of the games on the telly. He was thrilled to watch his beloved LFC win the Champions League and the English Premier league in the past 12 months. You'll Never Walk Alone!

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made in Bill Sutherland’s honour at the Canadian Cancer Society or with your local National Cancer Society.

Arrangements entrusted with COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL .
