We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Shirley Robinson (McKay) on Wednesday September 30th, 2020 at the age of 89.

Shirley passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a brief battle with Parkinsons.

She was predeceased by her husband Robert (Robbie) Robinson.

Loving mother of David Robinson, Dianne Wilson, and Janice Tobin, loving grandmother of Christopher (Amy), Jody, Mandy (Pat), Kevin (Vikkie), Brian (Miranda) and great-grandmother to Ty, Jeremy, Meadow, and Sebastien.

Shirley grew up in Oshawa and was one of seven children to Charles and Marion Mckay, and is predeceased by her sisters and brothers, Gerry, Betty, Marg, Don, George, and, Joan.

Shirley will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She will be greatly missed by all her card playing friends and neighbours. Shirley enjoyed getting together with family and friends for a game of cards, especially euchre, or board game, and travelling all over the countryside with her friends to attend card tournaments.

When she wasn’t knitting sweaters, socks, blankets, or afghans, Shirley was also an avid sports fan! She enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Blue Jays and Raptors, and was a constant attendee at her grandchildren’s hockey games and practices.

She retired from a long career at Loblaws and made many friendships while working there.

A big thank you to the nurses and PSW’s for all the kindness shown to mom over the last year, she loved talking to the different ladies who came to the house.

Visitation will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa on Wednesday, October 7th from 12 noon – 1:00 p.m.

Private family memorial service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or the  CHARITY of your choice.
