Passed away peacefully surrounded by love on October 29th, 2020 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Laurence Andrew Gillespie and mother Margaret Sebire (nee Whitehead). Cherished mother to Shaun Gillespie (Leslie) and Catherine Lopes (Brian).

Adored grandmother to Roland, Carmen-Mae, and Alexandra. Doting cat mom to Missy. Judy is lovingly remembered by her siblings Barry (Marilyn), Jim (Lynette), Greg (Naoko), and Peggy.

Judy was born and raised in Muskoka, Ontario.

She is a graduate of Gravenhurst high school, Centennial College (ECE), and Trent University (BA, Sociology).

She was a dedicated volunteer throughout her life, giving back to the community through organizations such as Emperor Street Centre, Hospice (VON), St. Vincent’s Kitchen, the United Church, and refugee sponsorship programs.

Judy had a 30-year career in social services dedicated to helping people with disabilities.

Judy enjoyed travelling, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Her favourite memories were those spent with her husband, Laurie, in their home on Lake Couchiching in Orillia and cottage gatherings at the family farm on the shores of Lake Muskoka.

Judy wanted to let her friends and family know that it was because of you that she had such a good life.

She extends her deepest thanks and love to all of you for everything you have done to support her.

A visitation will be held on November 5th from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME. A private service will follow directly after.
