Shubley IrmaSHUBLEY, Irma (nee Rogers) - (June 15th, 1938 - November 24th, 2020)

Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in Whitby, Ontario at the age of 82.

Predeceased by her husband Ernie, she was the cherished mother of Kevin (Libby), beloved grandmother of Matthew, dear sister to Isabel (Ron), loving Aunt to Suzanne and Angela and great Aunt to Madison and Alyssa.

Irma grew up in Stewiacke, Nova Scotia with her parents Alice and Henry and sister, Isabel.

She was married to Ernie in June, 1966.

With Ernie’s career in the Armed Forces, they travelled to multiple postings throughout Europe and Canada which included Toronto, Shilo, Calgary, Halifax and Ottawa.

Upon settling in Ottawa, Irma spent time as a caregiver to a number of families, eventually taking on the important role of caregiver to her grandson Matthew.

Irma loved to travel, staying well connected to family and friends during her visits to eastern Canada, western Canada and within Ontario.

She travelled from Ottawa many times to cheer her grandson on at his hockey games and soccer games. She was well known by many parents ‘in the stands’.

She lived in Ottawa until 2018 at which point, she moved to Whitby to be closer to family.

Irma loved visiting with friends, theatre productions and horse shows to name a few of her passions. She was loving and had a zest for life and will be greatly missed.

Special thanks to the staff at Taunton Mills and Windsor Park retirement homes for all of their incredible support.

A private family service will be held, followed by a celebration of life in Nova Scotia in summer 2021.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
