PIMENTEL GONZALEZ, Mitzi - Gracefully concluded her bout with cancer on November 27, 2020.
A native of Panama City, Panama, Mitzi was born January 14, 1961 and married Rafael Pimentel exactly 22 years later on January 14, 1983.
Her 59 remarkable years were spent living in Panama City and Toronto before finally coming to rest in Whitby, Ontario amid family and friends.
Mitzi’s memory lives on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her husband Rafael, mother Eusebia, daughter Rita, sons Rafael and Yakir, beloved grandchildren Rafy, Lucas, and Amaya, along with an ocean of friends and family.
Words cannot express the weight of her absence nor the myriad ways her vibrant presence touched those around her.
Friend. Sister. Mother. Wife. Mitzi always brought a sense of family to the rooms she graced whether with a warm hug or a warm meal. Her sense of family fueled her passion for community; from her volunteer outreach to the support she gave her close friends.
Even on the toughest days you could find her chatting for hours with those closest to her.
Over the years spent time as a social worker, a poet, an entrepreneur, a community leader and a political activist among so much more. A rich and fulfilling life, she always sought the beauty in the world around her. Ultimately, it was the love and devotion to her family that most emboldened her.
As she closes her final chapter, we celebrate her life with heavy hearts, fond memories, and a chance to say our final farewells.
A Visitation will be held at the DESTEFANO FUNERAL HOME, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa (south side of Taunton Road, east of Thornton Road by the Oshawa Airport) 905-440-3595 on Sunday, December 6th from 1:00-3:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm.
A service to celebrate Mitzi’s life will be held in the Christian Life Center Chapel on Tuesday, December 8th at 1:00 pm. Due to restrictions surrounding the global pandemic, physical attendance will be by invitation only. Both the visitation and the ceremony will be broadcast via livestream at the links found below.
