Anderson VioletANDERSON, Violet “Lorraine” (nee Thornington) - (March 25, 1930December 30, 202)

On Wednesday, December 30th, 2020, Violet “Lorraine” Anderson, with no family by her side, she did not pass peacefully at 90 years of age, but rather endured five weeks of severe ravages of the Covid-19 virus at Sunnycrest Nursing Home!

What a fighter she was, trying her best to not give up, rallying multiple times!

We were blessed to have many caring members of the health care team including Red Cross volunteers who were by her side and comforted her in her time of need.

We know that her Lord and Saviour welcomed her with open arms.

Lorraine was a longtime member of the St. George’s Memorial Anglican Church Women, having served in many capacities of Christian and charitable work.

Recognized as an outstanding member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 43 Oshawa, the woman behind a great man, she was the rock of the family, and the most loving and caring grandmother and great grandmother.

Not much made her happier than to have family come for Sunday dinner.

Beloved wife of Fred for 58 years before his passing in 2012.

Loving mother of Steven (Brenda) of Bowmanville and Diane (John Campbell) of Norwood.

Dearly loved by her grandchildren, Scott (Sheri) Goff, Brian (Kirsten) Anderson, Paul (Rae) Goff, Patricia (Luke) Schram, Lisa (Michael) Runcieman, great grandchildren Nate, Laura, Megan, Taylor (predeceased), Zoey, Rachel, Leighton, Valerie, Weston, Vivian, Lincoln, Averie and Harrison, and step great grandchildren Trever, Spenser and Arlene.

Predeceased by her parents Charles and Alice (Weale) Thornington.

Dear sister of Alberta Howard (the late Earl) (Bill Schloen) and Doris Thornington.  Dear sister-in-law of Gerry Thornington (the late Stan), Dorothy Anderson (the late Duncan), Winnie Millard (the late Claude and Dave).

Predeceased by siblings; Larry (the late Lylah), Lillian (the late Doug), Herb (the late Anna), Ella (the late George and Daincourt), Albert, Ted (the late June), Stan (Gerry).

Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Private family service to take place at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234).  The service can be viewed at https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/22060 on Saturday, January 2nd at 1:30 p.m.  Interment Thornton Cemetery.

Memorial donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 43 Oshawa, St. George’s Memorial Anglican Church or The War Amps would be appreciated.
