LUCAS, Jack  - (December 12, 1921 – December 29, 2020)

Born in Lancashire, England, WWII veteran, storyteller, historian, avid walker, public transit rider, high school teacher and guidance counsellor, died in his 100th year in Pickering, Ontario.

We have often listened with rapt attention to Jack’s stories of his days gone by and his recounting of our own childhoods. He remembered more than we did.

Every child in the extended family was known to him and celebrated by him.

He enjoyed reading, classical music, his food piping hot, fine wine, ocean cruise line holidays and trips to Britain, Europe and Bermuda, many times over, with favourite adventures in Paris and Switzerland.

Jack is predeceased by his wife and companion in life and travel, Audrey Edna (Cockburn) Lucas.

We give thanks for Jack’s friends and family who cared for him, kept in touch with him and, in particular, gave generously to Jack’s well-being later in life allowing him to remain in his own home.

Jack and Audrey will be interred at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
