Ray LorraineRAY, Lorraine 'Lyn' (nee Mantle) - (December 19th 1940 - February 5, 2021)

It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Lorraine Lyn Ray on February 5th, 2021 in her 81st year and has joined in heaven with her husband and soulmate, Edward Louis Ray ("Eddie").

Devoted mother to Lisa Ray-Bell (Arnold), Leanne Ray-Finlay (Jeff), and Paula Ray (predeceased); her sons-in-law, Arnold and Jeff, of whom she loved as her own children.

Loving Nannie to her adored grandchildren, Taylor Bell (Dennis), Connor Bell, Ross Finlay, and Jessica Finlay.

Loving fur mother to Louie, the cat.

Proud daughter of Floyd George Mantle and Verna Gladys Mantle (nee Hopkins), both predeceased.

Proud sister to Marion Horner, Sandra Labanovich, Shirley Shepstone, and Terry Mantle, all predeceased. Proud aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Lyn was born in the Township of Pickering, but was raised in Brooklin.

After marrying Eddie they moved to Whitby to begin their life together and start a family.

Lyn worked many years as a legal assistant at the Whitby court house, but after starting her family she left her work to devote all her time and love to raising her children.

Once the children were older, she started selling Avon to make a little extra money and after her numerous top sales person awards for highest sales in her district and province she was quickly promoted to district manager.

Mom and Dad retired together so they could enjoy their lives together with their children and grandchildren. They loved our annual "all-family" travels to Myrtle Beach where often all 10 of us would hang out by the pool, go out to dinner, go shopping - all having some fun times and of course, some crazy antics. Many happy memories were made there and will always be treasured by us all.

Mom dearly loved her cat, Louie, crossword puzzles and game shows.

We are blessed with her lifetime of kind-hearted care for her family, her wisdom, and her strength to move forward whenever things got tough.

Mom, we will cherish you and keep you in our hearts forever. We love you and will miss you immensely but we know it was your time to go home to be with Dad and Paula.

Special thanks to Dr. Graham, an amazing doctor we cannot thank enough. Special thanks to her nurse, Laverne, another truly amazing professional. Thanks to all of the pallative care team, the PSWs, and Lori Hewson and Teri Pilkey for helping us through this journey.

Memorial Donations to R.S. McLaughlin Cancer Centre or to Multiple Sclerosis would be appreciated.

Arrangements entrusted to BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, Whitby.
