STEPHENSON, Barbara Ruth (nee MITCHELL) - A life well and fully lived, Babs died peacefully in her 95th year at her home in Oshawa, supported by family, on March 18, 2021.
Predeceased by her husband Roy and survived by her four children Rob (Helen) of St. Andrews, NB, Peter (Noelle Clark) of Toronto, Pat Arkell (Tom) of St. Catharines and Bill (Tracy Henderson) of Oshawa.
Mourned by her eleven grandchildren Natalie, Graham, Kelsee, Braden, Julia, Andrew, Stephen, Adam, Jaclyn, Kathryn and Christyne, four great grandchildren Lachlan, Maggie, Sadie and Ellis and her brother Bill Mitchell (Grace) of St. Catharines.
A lifelong nurse, Mom was a proud, strong advocate and supporter for her children and grandchildren while modelling a constant commitment to ‘giving back’ to the community through her volunteer commitments to Scouting, the Metro Toronto Zoo and St Thomas’ Brooklin over the years.
A special thanks to Dr. Brown and for the wonderful care provided by the Central East LHIN homecare team, especially nurse Kayla and all of the PSWs from St Elizabeth’s, Paramed and Personal Attendant Care who supported Mom’s wish to live out her life at home.
A celebration of life and interment of ashes will occur in the fall or as gatherings are safe.
