Welsh JohnWELSH, John Kerr “Jack”   -   April 30th, 1949 - March 22nd, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Kerr “Jack” Welsh  In his 71st year, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jack was a proud member of Local 46 and worked as a plumber for 41 years before becoming a Plumbing Instructor at Durham College for the last 12 years.

“Scouter Jack” as he was also known volunteered his time with Scouts Canada for over 30 years and was recently awarded the Bar to the Silver Acorn in recognition of his contributions to Scouting in Whitby and Oshawa.

He was also the curator of the Scout Memorabilia Museum in Camp Samac for many years.

Jack’s enthusiasm for life also led itself to Street Rods and he was inducted into the Canadian Street Rod Association Hall of Fame in 1994.

He was also an ISCA Car show judge for over 40 years.

Jack was gregarious and kind. He wouldn’t hesitate to help out family, friends or strangers if they needed anything.

He made a lasting impression on those he met, taught, worked around or traded a badge with.

Always ready with a smile and a handshake, he also never refused a hug.  Jack will forever be missed by his wife Kathryn, his Mother Martha, his siblings, Margaret Ann, Douglas and David, his children AJ (Cara), Grant (Paula), and Amy (Dan) and his grandchildren Makenah, Morgan, Drew, Charlotte, Connor, Alexis and Hunter.

A celebration of Life will be held when health regulations will allow.
