Lafferty ZitaLAFFERTY, Zita (nee Couture) - (December 25th, 1913 – April 29th, 2021)

Zita Harriet Lafferty, 107, of Trenton, Ontario. With great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, Zita Harriet Lafferty on Thursday, April 29th, 2021 at Belleville General Hospital.

Beloved wife of the late Harry Francis Lafferty.

Born on December 25th, 1913 in Trenton, Ontario to Oliver and Catherine Couture, Zita was the second youngest of her late siblings Alphonse, Isabel, Genevieve, Kathleen, Leota and Gerard.

Devoted mother of Roger and his wife Patricia of Trenton, Barbara and her husband Ronald Moran of Oshawa, Paul and his wife Rhonda of Trenton, and Peggy and her husband Dennis Reid of Surrey BC.

Lovingly remembered by her cherished grandchildren Mark (Kim) Lafferty and Ian (Michelle) Lafferty, Gregory Moran, Michelle (Michael) LaMarche, Dayna (Robbie) Edwards, Heather (Douwe) Schuurmans, Rebecca (Justin) Hill, Catharine Reid (Gordon Guo) and Christine (Tom) Chipman, and 11 great grandchildren.

Mom and Dad married November 13th, 1939. They moved from the transport business site and the “house on the highway’ to the farm and the ‘house on the hill’ in 1951 or 1952 and raised their family.

Shortly after Dad passed away in 1992, Mom moved to Faith Place in Oshawa.  She was very happy living in Oshawa and always said she didn’t know a country mouse could be happy in the city.

In 2014 Mom moved back to Trenton to Crown Ridge Retirement Residence after her 100th birthday. While at Crown Ridge, Zita had many local and out of town visitors including Crown Ridge residents who remembered her from school years and family life in Trenton and stopped by to renew acquaintances.

We would like to thank everyone who took such good care of Mom while living at the Crown Ridge Retirement Residence and most recently the staff at Belleville General Hospital in her final few days.

Special thanks to Dr. Greg Van de Mosselaer and Amanda.

We will miss Mom and her love and support. Always in our thoughts, prayers and memories.  May she rest in peace.

Private Funeral Service to take place at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234).

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Online condolences may be made at  oshawafuneralhome.com .
