CAMPBELL, William "Bill" Campbell   -  1939-2021  William passed away after a courageous battle at the age of 81, on May 16, 2021.

Beloved husband to Elizabeth for 58 wonderful years.

Adored father to David, Neil and Stephen.

Proud grandfather to Justin, Jamie, Shannon, Emily, Julia and Nolan. Dear father-in-law to Wendy, Tracey, Jodi and Doris.

He will be greatly missed by his extended family and friends.

Bill and Liz emigrated from Belfast to Canada in 1964, with stops in Scarborough and Ottawa before finally settling in Ajax.

Bill loved community and family. He took great joy in embarrassing his sons in public, like a great big kiss on the way into a hockey game – when they were 16!, or the old Kick-the-Closing-Door-and-Pretend-it-Hit-Your-Nose trick.

Bill was as giddy as a child at the births of all his grandchildren, exclaiming to anyone who would listen if they had outdoor plumbing or not.

He loved his pubs, and has been known to recite Robert Frost poems from memory after a pint or three.

Bill could run into an old friend at any pub in Southern Ontario. We will see you again, Dad, Grandpa, Bill.

If you get there first, put a mark on the gates, if I get there first I’ll erase it.

In honour of William, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Diabetes Canada would be greatly appreciated.
