JOHNSTON, Robert William   -  After a determined battle with cancer and dementia, Robert quietly left this life on June 5th, 2021 cradled in the love of family.

Family meant everything to Rob and his happiest memories were those spent with his beloved wife Wendy, his adored two sons; Matthew (Eileen), and Bradley (Jill) and his cherished grandchildren; Sommer, Owen, Elle and Jude.

The numerous photos around the family home of wonderful trips, birthdays and anniversaries are testimonies to the happy and fulfilled life Rob had.

He began life in 1949, in a small town called Emsdale, just north of Huntsville, Ontario. He was the first son of Wyatt and Joan, and older brother of Mary and David.

Robert was an Ontario scholar and got his degree at the University of Waterloo, where he and Wendy met.

Their love story continued for almost 49 years. Rob enjoyed many activities such as golf, curling, skiing, reading, sudoku and playing cards. Many of his fondest memories were made at the family cottage; swimming, boating and singing around the campfire. His quirky sense of humour and sharp wit kept everyone amused and on their toes.

Rob had a compassionate heart. He was involved in Westminster United Church, serving as Chairman of the Board and was also an active Board Member of Manning Mews.

Due to the pandemic, the family will hold a private family service and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

At this time, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
