THOMPSON, Donald James Thompson   -  Donald passed away in his 87th year at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Tuesday, June 15th.

He was born in Cobourg, ON., on October 31st, 1934.

Predeceased by his parents James and Hazel Thompson, sister Evelyn Foley, and brother, Maurice.

He leaves to mourn his wife Grace of nearly 60 years.

Beloved father of Robin and Scott (Adina).

Much loved grandfather of Gregory (Keely), Ashley, Kendra and Jillian.

Will be missed by his many nephews and nieces. He attended North Simcoe Public School, O.C.V.I and Oshawa Business College. He retired from A&P in 1991.

Don was a scout leader for over 40 years.

He was a member of Faith United Church and cherished his time in the choir. Don loved spending time at the cottage on Lake Simcoe where so many wonderful memories were made.

He enjoyed his home, gardening, and especially decorating for Halloween, but most memorable at Christmas. We used to tease him that the house could be seen from space.

Donald was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in October 2019.

In May of this year, he was diagnosed with esophagus cancer. His suffering was blessedly short and his passing peaceful.

We are grateful for the excellent care he received while in the hospital.

Cremation has taken place and a private family internment will be held later.  A celebration of Donald’s life will be held in the fall.

Donations to Lakeridge Health Oshawa or The Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.
