HANSKE, Marita Kate (Gorny) - It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Marita, loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
Marita Kate Hanske (Gorny), age 71, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2021 due to complications from a stroke.
She was born on April 16, 1950 in Bielefeld, Germany to Volkmar and Ilse Hanske. They moved to Canada in 1955 where Marita grew up in Peterborough with her two brothers George and Raimund.
She then married, and later divorced, Edwin Gorny in Oshawa and had two very blonde children Kristy and James.
Marita did many things in her life she was very proud of. She was a world traveler, a teacher, computer programmer, caterer, landlord and bus driver, but her most loved job was a stay at home mom and grandmother.
Marita is survived by her mother Ilse, her brother and wife Raimund & Lore, brother and wife Werner & Gisela, her daughter Kristy, granddaughter Emilia, and her many nephews, nieces and friends. All of whom she loved and touched deeply.
Please join us celebrating her life Thursday July 8th at 3:00 pm graveside at Thornton Cemetery, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, Ontario, where she will be laid to rest with her son James Gorny. Due to Covid restrictions, Thornton Cemetery has asked anyone wishing to attend to please contact the family, if you have not already confirmed.
