Rumley DouglasRUMLEY, Douglas Rumley   -  December 1, 1926 – July 23, 2021

Passed away peacefully in his 95th year at Fairview Lodge on Friday, the 23rd of July 2021 surrounded by his family.

He is preceded by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Helen Rumley, and daughter Janice (John).

He will be dearly missed by his children Steven Rumley (Angela) and Barb Wilson (Bill).

Beloved grandfather of Vanessa, Nicholas, Derek (Lacey), Brandon (Natassja), Michelle (Jeremy), Vicky, Becky (Ty) and Tom and 8 great-grandchildren - Paizleigh, Charlie, Briar, Amelia, Isabella, Abigail, Jack and Scarlett.

Douglas will be missed by his nieces and nephews and many friends.

Doug was first and foremost a family man.

He was happiest when surrounded by his family and was always looking for ways to help them out. He met his wife Helen through a family friend. It was love at first sight and they were engaged and married within the year.

They had almost 60 wonderful years together before sadly, she predeceased him on July 28, 2012. Doug was an avid gardener who loved to cook.

He was a people person who could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was always interested in people's life stories and genuinely enjoyed connecting with them, especially when exchanging a recipe or two.

At the age of 92, Doug went to live at Fairview Lodge. He received excellent care while there and was treated with affection and respect.

The family would like to commend the staff at Fairview Lodge for being the kind, compassionate group of people they are.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME , 847 King St. W, Oshawa, Ontario (905-721-1234).

If you wish to make a donation in Douglas’s honour, please do so at Community Care Durham or the Humane Society of Durham Region.
