COLLINS, Rose Collins  -  1925 - 2021  Veronica “Rose” Manley was a caring wife, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

She left this world peacefully August 7th, 2021 surrounded by family at the age of 95.

She was born to Michael and Catherine Manley on September 28th, 1925.

Rose was raised in Ottawa during the good times of the 20's, The Depression of the 1930's, spent her teenage years at school during WW2, also worked as a messenger for Western Union during this time.

After the war she met her husband Gerald Collins and together they had 11 children. Brian, Eileen, Gerald, and Catherine, before leaving Ottawa for Montreal North where Christine, John, Kevin, Theresa, Rosemary, JoAnne and Paul were born.

Being from a large family herself, Rose loved her brothers Walter, John, Pat, Joseph and Bernie along with her sisters Francis, Agnes and Mary.  Her face always lit up when she was able to spend time with her many nieces and nephews.  A wise matriarch and caring lady her house was always filled with her children, the neighborhood kids and later on with the voices of grandchildren 26 in total plus 18 great grandchildren. Christmas and holidays were the best of times for her.

Always baking, cooking, and preparing for the next event. She would always have the best advice for the many situations that came up, but you could never interrupt while she was watching Law and Order or Coronation Street.

After some of the children were married or moved away, Rose worked for Zeller's Warehouse for 15 years until she retired in 1985.

With much encouragement from family, because of health and the passing of her husband Gerald in 2009.

She left her home on Lamoureux Street in Montreal North after 65 years and moved to Pickering, Ontario to live with Christine and Brian where she spent her last years surrounded by family and weekly visits from her children and grandchildren. She was always surrounded by family and love.

This remarkable woman will be laid to rest with her husband Gerald Collins on August 20, 2021 at 2:00 pm located at Last Post National Field of Honor 703 Donegani Ave, Pointe-Claire, Quebec H9R 5G6.

There will be Mass held at St Brendan’s Parish located at 3542 Bd Rosemont, Montréal, QC H1X 1K8.
