MOUNTJOY, Margaret Mountjoy  -  Passed away after a brief battle with her health on Wednesday, August 18th, 2021 at the Port Perry Hospital just shy of her 94th birthday.

Margaret (nee Hocken), beloved wife of the late Ivan Mountjoy of Blackstock.

Loving mother of Brian Mountjoy and his wife Judith of Port Perry, Judy Gilbank and her husband Carl of Blackstock and Linda Kyte and her husband Bob of Blackstock.

Cherished grandmother of Kari, Kimberly, Laura, Lisa, Kevin, Bradley and Meghan and great grandmother of Mason, Lexie, Kolton, Kipton, Keaton, Emily, Adam, Mya, Joshua, Samantha, Austin and Haynes.  Margaret spent her pre-school years in a lumber camp near Manitoulin Island.

Margaret’s family moved to Shirley for her to attend a one-room public school.

Margaret boarded in Port Perry to attend High School. She went to Teacher’s College in Toronto where she boarded with her Aunt Sybil Hocken. Margaret met Ivan Mountjoy and moved to the Mountjoy Farm in 1947 where she started her family.

Margaret taught at Cartwright Central Public School until her children left home. After Ivan’s early passing Margaret built and moved to a new house on a corner of the Mountjoy Farm to spend her retirement years. 

The family of Margaret Mountjoy invite friends to join them at Cartwright Union Cemetery, in Blackstock for a service to celebrate her life on Saturday, August 21st, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.

If desired, memorial donations can be made by cheque to the Blackstock Nestleton United Church Memorial Fund.
