YHAP, Maureen Celene - (April 23, 1938 - September 8, 2021)
It is with profound sadness that the family of Maureen Celene Yhap announces her passing.
Our Heavenly Father took Maureen into His loving arms to rest.
God was faithful to Maureen as she was to Him, answering her prayer - that she would transition to Eternal Life to be with Him in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren.
Maureen was born on April 23, 1938 in Georgetown, Guyana, to Charles and Pauline Cornelius.
She was the beloved sister to Leonard, Carmalita, Anthony, Josephine, Stephen, Leona, Patrick (deceased), Patricia, Pauline (deceased), Martin and Mario. Loving aunt to many nephews and nieces.
Maureen is survived by Lindbergh, her devoted husband for 58 years. Maureen and Lindbergh had a love like no other. They cherished each other deeply and it was clear to everyone around them they were truly meant for each other. Proud mother to Grace (Clive), David (Kimberly), Louise (Morton), Audrey (Paul), Peter and Paul.
Lovingly known as Granny to her grandchildren: Roel, Jordan, Stephen, Joel, Samuel, Joianna, Morton, Matthew, Michael, Sarah and Kadin. Through her years, Maureen held strong to her faith and her beliefs.
She was born into a deeply religious family, rooted in the Catholic faith. She was an active member of The Ladies Action Group at St. Joseph’s Parish in Linden and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Isaac Jogues.
She was diligent in her attendance to the Catholic Charismatic Community every Monday evening for many years, where she met caring friends who shared her commitment to God.
She was a woman with strong convictions, and when she set her mind to something, there was no changing it. She possessed strong morals and held firm and steadfast, trusting in God and knowing that through Him, all things were and are possible.
She was loyal and never turned her back on those in need and those she loved. She had a deep dedication and devotion to her family, which likely started in her own childhood.
The passing of her sister, Pauline, indelibly impacted Maureen’s life.
We began noticing that she was experiencing mobility difficulties and as a result, a new season was underway. She required a little more care and support, but even at her most difficult times, Maureen could be counted on to meet a challenge.
Her family is grateful to God that Maureen’s cognitive abilities remained intact.
Maureen was the embodiment of courage, strength, dignity, grace, resilience and commitment to family, qualities she instilled in her children. Losing Maureen has created a void that will never be filled. She will always be in our minds, forever in our hearts - a legacy that will live on.
Maureen’s family wishes to thank you from the bottom of their hearts for all your love, support, and acts of kindness at this difficult time. It has been overwhelming and such a great source of comfort.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Isaac Jogues Roman Catholic Church (1148 Finch Ave. Pickering) on Monday September 13, 2021 at 11:30 AM followed by the burial.
