SUMMERVILLE, Jessie Baillie  - It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of our beloved mother Jessie Baillie Summerville (nee Stevenson) who celebrated her 94th birthday this past May.

Mom passed away in hospital on Friday September 10, 2021 after a brief illness.

Predeceased by her husband and our dad, retired Toronto Police S/Sgt, Harry Summerville, mom will be greatly missed by her daughters Sharon (Kevin Wilkie), Susan, Cathy and Jeanne as well as her five grandchildren, Christopher, Melissa, Andrew, Philip and Stuart and their spouses, as well as her seven great-grandchildren.

She will be especially missed by her great, lifelong friend and our godmother, Jean Tice.

Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, as the second youngest of twelve siblings, mom grew up in Vancouver BC after the family moved there.

Mom’s favourite memories from that time were her mother and the mountains where she hiked, swam and rode horses.  Always looking for a new adventure, mom arrived in Toronto as a young woman and set about creating a life for herself.

It was in Toronto that she met our dad through Kew Beach United Church.

They married and settled into life in the Beach, where we were raised.  Those that knew mom will remember her for her quick wit, sense of humour and grace.  There are also some who will remember her “look”.

There were many people and things that mom loved but the top five were: her family, new adventures, car rides, ice cream and her dog, Joey. We think her real favourite was either ice cream or Joey!

Given the current COVID situation, a private family viewing will be held with a celebration of life to be arranged later.

Donations in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated to either the Alzheimer’s Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
