HOPE, Ian - (April 22, 1928 – October 5, 2021)

Born in Leith Scotland, Ian served in the Royal Marines for 3 years, he immigrated to Canada in 1948, was retired from Consumers Gas after 34 years of service and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 178 Bowmanville.

Survived by his cousin Margaret Shirlaw of Dorval, Quebec; a family member who was closest to Ian, a beautiful woman with a lovely personality.  Favourite girlfriend and confidant, Joan Reed.

He leaves the Harmer family whom he had wonderful memories and who taught him, life was truly overflowing with love. Allison Harmer a compassionate loving friend shared his life.

Devoted Cats: Cyndi, Emma and Merlin and Guinea Pigs: Earl, Peter, Fred and Cleo.  Ian Hope, a very wise and peaceful soul will be missed, but well remembered.

Ian is surely with his deceased wife, Jane Hope, in heaven.

“We can’t wait to see him again in heaven, every day is really a faithful step, in this sorrowful beauty.”

I hope you meet Jesus, the Virgin Mary and all the angels and saints.  You are a good Christian soul – find your way back to God, sweet Ian!

May you continue to share your soul with us, like rays of the sun through the heavenly clouds.

At Ian’s request no service will be held. Memorial Donations may be made to The Durham Humane Society.
