FRANCIS, Audrey (nee READ) Francis - Passed away peacefully with family by her side on October 12, 2021, in her 91st year.
Predeceased by her dearly loved husband of 60 years, Peter Francis, who died in 2013, and her beloved daughter Joanne Dutka (Ken) in 2010.
Lovingly remembered by her son John (Lois), son-in-law Ken and six grandchildren: John (Danya), Pete (Clemence), Alex (Jaclyn), Joy (Mark), Amy, and Peter.
She was also blessed with two great-granddaughters, Audrey and Zelda. She is dearly remembered by her sister Marilyn Steffen (late John) and predeceased by her sister Shirley Campbell (late Donald).
Audrey established and operated an art and antique store in Oshawa, The Cottage Gallery, doing the bookkeeping every evening. In the midst of this full life, she also survived two bouts of cancer and then walked steadfastly alongside both her daughter and husband in their own cancer journeys.
Conscientious and responsible, a wonderful wife and doting grandmother, a much-loved mother, aunt, sister and friend, Audrey will be greatly missed. The family is deeply grateful for the caring and compassionate staff at The Village of Tansley Woods and Maple Villa LTC Centre in Burlington.
Due to the circumstances, a private family memorial will be held at MOUNT LAWN CEMETERY in Whitby where she will be laid to rest. If you wish to join the family for the interment, please call Mount Lawn Funeral Home, to have your names placed on the list, space is limited. The interment will be held at 2:45pm on Saturday October 30. Please arrive at 2:30pm and wait in the parking lot.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Audrey's favourite charity, Joanne's House (Durham Youth Services), Canadian Cancer Society, or the CHARITY of your choice.
