RICHARDSON, Aline Richardson   -  The family are deeply saddened to announce that Alina Susana Richardson of Whitby passed away at the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry on Monday, October 11th, 2021.

Beloved mother of Tracy Smith (Guy) and grandmother of Alexandra (Tyler) and Matthew (Olivia).

Predeceased by her children, Leigh in 1995 and Gerry in 2013.

She is survived by her sister, Sonia Sansot of Buenos Aires, Argentina and many cousins, nieces, nephews and family around the world.

Aline, as she preferred to be called, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1937 and spent her formative years there very happily with her sisters, Nara and Sonia and her large extended family and dear friends with whom she remained in contact to this day.

She traveled to England as a young adult, worked at the Argentine Embassy for a time and explored a bit of Europe, married and then moved to South Africa where she had her three children and developed a deep love for the country where she was to live for 40 years.

She made many dear friends who also remained a very special part of her life.

She worked in many different fields, eventually owning her own business importing and exporting many products, mostly mining equipment in Southern Africa.

She spent her last 20 years in Canada where she discovered the internet, got a computer and connected to all her dear family and friends.

She was funny, cheeky and opinionated, almost perfectly set up to be the grandma who was very much included in general family life. This was as much of a gift to us, as we hoped we were to her.

Due to the restrictions of COVID-19, a celebration of her life will be held in the spring of 2022 when we hope to include everyone who wishes to attend.

If desired, memorial donations to the Oak Ridges Hospice of Durham at www.oakridgeshospice.com would be appreciated.
