HEWLETT, William Michael Marsh Hewlett   - January 18, 1949 - November 18, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Michael “Mike” Marsh Hewlett of Pickering at the age of 72, on November 18, 2021.

Beloved husband to Lorraine for 48 years.

Cherished father to Tyler (Claire) and Ryan (Kelly).

Mike was a proud Grampa to Kayley, Kenzie, Lyla, Landon, and Brea who he loved to spoil and spend time with. Mike was a caring brother to Susan (Bill) Ripley, and Paul.

Predeceased by his parents, William and June.

Mike will be greatly missed by family, friends, and colleagues.

Mike was born in Toronto, the first born to his parents. He spent his youth playing sports such as hockey and football and was a curious explorer.

He met the love of his life Lorraine in Grade 8 and they were inseparable from that point on.

He attended the University of Toronto for Geography and pursued a career in corporate real estate. Mike and Lorraine began their family in Oshawa where the boys were born before settling in Pickering.

He was a very active father in the boys’ sports lives, coaching hockey, baseball, and soccer. Mike enjoyed family trips, skiing, sporting events, boating the Trent-Severyn, and their family cottage on Horseshoe Lake which he built with friends. Mike was a very well respected business colleague to many and he loved the “buzz of the deal”.

Mike’s greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Mike’s caring heart always found him willing to help those in need and support community members, be it people he knew or didn’t know.

A family gathering will take place to celebrate Mike’s wonderful life this week with a larger celebration of life planned for spring/summer 2022.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lymphedema Association of Ontario  https://www.lymphontario.ca/.
