Skinner DorothySKINNER, Dorothy Skinner   -  June 9, 1957 – November 27, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy on Saturday, November 27, 2021 following a courageous battle with cancer.

She passed away peacefully at her home with her husband David and her sister Helene by her side.

Beloved wife of David.

Loving daughter of Poldi and Erich (deceased) Mair. Cherished sister of Helene (Ed) Iardas.

Will be sadly missed by Dave’s brothers and sisters: Greta (Mike), Sandra (Colin), Phil (Hannah), and their families.

Dorothy was a planner, professionally, recently retired from a 30 year career as a principal planner at the Region of Durham; and personally, arranging family get togethers, creating a butterfly garden, coordinating her mother’s care, and planning vacations and other adventures with Dave.

Always athletic, she played baseball in her younger years, and remained an avid fan of the Blue Jays.

Dorothy had a warm and joyous presence, always ready to pitch in and help when anyone needed it. Her style was straight forward and direct.

She faced life and all of life’s challenges as a warrior would, and fought the good fight for what she believed in. You always knew where you stood with Dorothy.

The family will receive friends at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 12:30 pm until the time of the service at 1:30 pm.

The service will be webcast for those who are unable to attend. Link will be available closer to the date of service.

Proof of full vaccination, along with government issued ID, are mandatory to attend indoor visitation and funeral services for those age 12 and older. Masks are required.

Dorothy will be fondly remembered by her extended family and friends in Canada, UK, and Austria.

In particular, Dorothy will be missed by her cousins Lilli (Kurt) Forster, and Eva (Gerald) Fuerst, and her aunt and uncle, Edith and Engelbert Mair, along with their families.

Special thanks to the Cancer Care Department at Lakeridge Health.
