Frayne DonFRAYNE, Don - (May 9, 1935 – November 28, 2021)

Of Oshawa, passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, as the snowflakes gently fell, Sunday, November 28, 2021.

He is survived by his love Rose Frayne, his sons Mark (Cheryl Frayne), Paul (predeceased by Carolyn Frayne) and his daughter, Karen (Andy Bussanich).

He was the proud, loving grandfather of Jason Frayne, Devon (Sam) Frayne, Margot (Till) Frayne, Jordan (Lisa) Bussanich, and Rachel (Justin) Bussanich, and the great-grandfather to Maverik Frayne.

Donald John Frayne was born on May 9, 1935 in Oshawa, joining 13 brothers and sisters, and many, many nieces and nephews. Hence, his nickname, “Mouse”.

He had a wonderful childhood growing up on Bloor Street, fondly reminiscing that “there was never a dull moment”! Adventures with great, lifelong friends like Nester, Ernie, Mush, and many others were full of “lots of laughs”.

Then, he fell in love with Rosie with whom he proudly spent 63 years of marriage and, together, their life revolved around family and friends.

Don will be remembered for many things, particularly having a special gift of bringing smiles and laughter to all; even in the hospital when, as he would explain, he wasn’t “feeling quite up to par”.

He greeted people with a smile and loved sharing laughs, always.

He was a fixture in the neighbourhood, making many friends, some becoming part of the family like Anne and Sprague.

Don was a lithographer and embarked on a 42 year career at Alger Press, enjoying the camaraderie of his fellow workers.

In “retirement”, he had fun “working” at Oshawa Generals games as an usher, and at OMS as a driver. To many, he was a minor hockey coach, a baseball coach, a Canada Day volleyball player, and a friend to a “great bunch of guys” on his lob ball team.

Without question, Rosie and her family will forever hold “Donny”, “dad”, “grandpa”, and “great-grandpa”, close in our hearts, and he will be dearly remembered and missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A private funeral service has been arranged and it is hoped that a get-together will be organized in the future to celebrate Don's life.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the SickKids Foundation.
