Cowie DavidCOWIE, David James  - April 24, 1939 – December 23, 2021

-Called home to be with his Lord and Saviour, retired Durham Regional Police Sergeant, David James Cowie (April 24, 1939 - December 23, 2021).

Forever beloved husband of 61 years and dearest friend of Joy (Ford) Cowie, cherished father of Timothy (Gwen) of Davidson, North Carolina, Karen (pre-deceased) (fiancé Angelo Bruni), and John (Tina) of Whitby.

Proud Dadoo and Poppa of Emmily, Timmy & Ryan Cowie, Malachi (Laura) and Jonah (Kay) Cowie.

Dear brother-in-law of Gordon Ford. Pre-deceased by his parents James and Ruth Cowie, brothers Bob and Charles and sister Marilyn Constable.

Fondly remembered by his nephews Steven (Jeannie), David (Kay), Mark (Tracy), Scott (Nicole) and Brad (pre-deceased).

Dave spent his childhood years on the family farm on Audley Road, Ajax. In 1960, at the age of 21, he married his life-long sweetheart Joy and together had their family home built in Courtice.

In 1964, he proudly joined the Oshawa Police Force (now Durham Regional Police) retiring in 1993 with 29 years of service.

In his retirement, he enjoyed golfing with his buddies, tending to his many shrubs and lawn, trips to Florida and quietly helping others in the church and community (including Bible for Missions and St. Vincent’s Kitchen).

His love for his Lord was evident in the life he lived. His greatest treasures were his children and grandchildren.

Thank you to our church family and treasured friends who have covered our family in prayer and sustaining love.

Also many thanks to the dedicated doctors, nurses and housekeeping staff of 4F Palliative Care at Lakeridge Health Oshawa throughout this journey.
