Duguy KathleenDUGUAY, Kathleen Margaret Duguay   -  June 7, 1922 – January 2, 2022

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of the Matriarch of our family, Mrs. Kathleen Duguay on January 2nd, 2022, in her 100th year. Kathleen is predeceased by her husband Harry and 4 siblings, Harry, George, Dora and May and 2 sons Raymond (Louise), Roger (Rosalie).

Survived by her 4 children, Terry (Shirley) Fredericton New Brunswick, Daniel (Karen) Sussex Corner, New Brunswick, Don (Suzan) Campbellton, New Brunswick, Debra and partner Irfan Oshawa, Ontario.

Beloved grandmother of 17 and Great grandmother of 30, all of which reside from the East Coast to the West Coast of Canada. Survived also by niece Susan (Ray) England and great nieces and nephews (England).

Kathleen was born and raised in Woking, England. She fell in love with a Canadian Soldier during the 2nd world war and married in 1941. Kathleen then travelled at age 22 yrs. accompanied by her first born son, barely 2 years old on the Aquatania, arriving at Halifax harbour Pier 51, being referred then for the rest of her life as a “ War Bride “. Harry and Kathleen then settled in Campbellton New Brunswick.

Once in Canada, her husband joined the Canadian Armed Forces.

After residing in several armed forces bases, tragedy occurred and her husband died suddenly at age 47 en-route to final posting, Comox, British Columbia.

Kathleen was left to raise 6 children and her role as a loving mother never wavered. Kathleen chose never to remarry and her response was always, “I married the love of my life and could never find another like him“, definitely a true love story.

Throughout her life, Kathleen dedicated her life to being the best Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Sister. She always saw the good in her children and encouraged them to focus on their strengths. Music was a big part of her life and many of her children and grandchildren played musical instruments and the family participated in many get togethers of singing and playing guitars, which she loved.

Many people throughout her life who spent even a few moments with her loved her instantly as her gentle nature and kindness towards others was evident. She always was so respectful and thankful to others for even the smallest things done for her.

She had a sharp mind and an amazing sense of humour and when asked the question of her how she felt about living her life to such an older age, she always replied, “I don't think about my age, I just wake up each day and carry on“.

She never lost her connections to her roots in England and in her younger years she travelled to England for many holidays to be with her sister and nieces.  Her gentle nature and kindness remained within her, her entire life.

She will certainly be greatly missed by her family and many friends of the family.

Rest in peace beautiful Kathleen as a special seat in heaven has been reserved for you.
