BERGSMA, Wemmigje “Betsy” - October 14, 1923 - January 7, 2022
Passed away peacefully at Extendicare Nursing Home on January 7, 2022.
She was born in Holland to parents Harmanus Bijkerk and Wilhelmina Smit.
She was the last survivor of 12 children.
Betsy married her husband of 63 years; Meint “Mike” Bergsma in 1945, and emigrated to Canada in 1953.
She will be sadly missed by her sons Andrew and Lester, and daughterd-in-law Helen, Diana and Janet.
She had 6 grandchildren, Kim, Mike, Ashley, Devon, Laurel and Jarrod, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Betsy will also be missed by her brother-in-law Hans Bergsma and all of her nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Meint “Mike”, son John and grandson Jarrod Bergsma.
Arrangements entrusted with ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME .
There will be no formal funeral service at this time, but a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
