Dragon LeonDRAGON, Leon Henry - (May 30, 1926 – December 31, 2021)

It’s with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Leon Dragon at the age of 95.

Leon was born May 30, 1926 in Rasztowce, Poland to parents Michał and Katarzyna.

He was an only child, but was very close with his cousin Stasia.

He was a loving husband to his wife Halina Dragon for 71 years.

He was a loving father to his two children, Zbigniew (Dianne) and Elizabeth (Mitch).

One of Leon’s greatest joys in life was his beloved grandchildren Jennifer (Michał) and Matthew.

He was very proud of their accomplishments.

He will be greatly missed by friends and family in Canada, United States, Germany and Poland. The family from Krotoszyn, Poland will be celebrating a funeral mass in Leon’s intention.

Family was Leon’s most important priority in life. He also enjoyed spending time at the cottage, travelling and reading.

He was an intelligent, gentle and fair man with a “you can do anything” positive attitude. He was also a happy, kind hearted man and you would often hear him singing with his beautiful voice.

He was an avid reader who loved learning, especially about history, geography and science.

Leon also loved to dance and have a good laugh.

Leon was a proud Polish veteran. He served with the Allied Forces in the United States Occupation Army in Germany. He was a member of the designated Polish Unit. Leon later served in France after the War ended. In 1949, Leon came to Canada to work for the Canadian National Railway in Northern Ontario.

Next he moved to Montreal where he met Halina, the love of his life on New Year’s Eve 1949.

The family later moved to Oshawa where he did electrical maintenance at General Motors for 38 years.

He was a devout Catholic and a dedicated and active parishioner at St. Hedwig's Parish in Oshawa. He was also part of the church choir.

Leon was an active member of the General W. Sikorski Polish Veterans' Association in Oshawa, with over four decades of participation and was the oldest serving member.
