CZAPKA, Eugenie Elinore 'Ella' - It is with heavy hearts but the fondest memories that we announce the passing of Eugenie Elinore Czapka (Jesse), known as “Ella” to close friends and family, on January 11, 2022 at the age of 90.
Born in Lodsch, Poland to Theodor & Olga Jesse, she was the oldest of three, having survived World War II as a young girl where she first fled to Germany and later immigrated to Canada in 1954.
Ella married Anton Czapka in 1957 and had their only son, Peter, a year later.
Ella will always be known for her love of family.
She was predeceased by her brother Gerhadt (Bonni), and survived by her youngest brother, Konrad (Marion) and their son Christopher. Loving Mother to Peter (Karen), and cherished Oma to Jennifer (Brett), Richard and Rachel.
Ella was known for being well-read, enjoyed travelling the world, and will be remembered with admiration for her strong character, conviction, and resiliency.
The family would like to thank the staff at Douglas Crossing for the considerate care she received over the last few years.
A private service will be held for family members only.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in memory of Ella Czapka would be greatly appreciated by the family.
