Grande FrancescoGRANDE, Francesco   –   Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather

Francesco Grande peacefully at home on January 15, 2022, at the age of 91, surrounded by his loving wife Lucia, daughter Lina, son-in-law John and caregiver Selam.

A kind, gentle, and fun-loving soul who worked tirelessly to build a beautiful life for his family after immigrating from Zungoli, Avellino, Italy, with only a suitcase and a few dollars, to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1956.

Francesco spent most of his working life at Canadiana Textile Print in Mississauga.

He often spoke of helping print some of the first sets of Canadian flags that became official in 1967!

He loved spending time with family and friends. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Always ready to crank up the Italian records and dance with them, donning the oddest goaltending gear for a game of street hockey or soccer, and of course, ready to take them anywhere in the Nonno taxi.

He cherished time with family and friends, whether at the cottage, Italian dances, or for a quick espresso, which sometimes turned into a midnight “spaghettata.”

Francesco is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucia, daughter Lina (John), grandchildren Matthew (Danielle), Mark, Paul, son Mario (Heather), grandchildren Stephen (Sarah), Stephen's mother Debra (Brian), Nicole (Wes), and great-grandchildren Emma, Gabrielle, Kayden and Kenley.

We are eternally grateful to the wonderful caregivers for their loving support, care and friendship over the past few years. We love you dearly, Pop!
