Hollohan JohnHOLLOHAN, John Elias Hollohan   - June 5, 1941 – April 14, 2022

Passed away suddenly, after a brief illness in Whitby, Ontario, on Thursday, April 14th.

John was born in the small fishing village of Summerville in Bonavista Bay, NL on June 5, 1941.

He moved to Gander at an early age but spent most summers in Summerville and nearby Sweet Bay.

John always remembered how prosperous the fishing industry was back then and said he would always have fond memories of those good old days.

After university, John moved to Ontario, where he worked for a number of years in the food industry.

Missing the ocean, John moved west in 1993 to Vancouver Island followed by his beautiful bride to be, June.

Before leaving Ontario he wrote his first song and once he settled in Victoria, he got more serious about his music.

He joined the Newfoundland Association of Victoria and after singing a few of his songs at some of their functions, it was suggested that he write some songs about his native Newfoundland.

He did just that and released his first CD in 2003. John retired from his position as a health care professional at the age of 71 and returned to Ontario to be closer to family.

He continued to write a variety of music.

John had the kindest heart and will be greatly missed by his loving wife June, his children Steve, Julie (Bill), Corinne (Randy) his grandchildren, Selina, Ryan, Laura (Kevin), Penny (Peter), Sarah (Donald), Brandon (Kim), Julie, his great grandchildren, Naythen, Rhys, Nathan, Donald, Taylor, Geza, Emily, Georgia, Paisley, Jack, Tucker, Hudson and Emma, his siblings Tom (deceased) Mary, Brian (deceased), Jerry, Maureen (Marshall), Wayne (Karen) and his many nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his parents Walter and Anne (Kelly).

John will be honoured by a private Celebration of Life that will be held at a later date.

A chapter completed A page turned A life well lived A rest well earned.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at  oshawafuneralservices.com for the Hollohan family.
