Forrest OliveFORREST, Olive May (nee McKenzie)   -  April 27, 1933 - April 11, 2022

It is with the greatest sorrow that we announce the passing of Olive May Forrest on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa at the age of 88, with daughter Fiona and son-in-law Bobby by her side.

Predeceased by her husband Robert Scott Forrest (1990) and survived by son Douglas and daughter Fiona (Bobby), and step-grandsons Derek (Lauren) and Ryan, and step-great- granddaughter Sophia.

Olive was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on April 27, 1933, to Olive May Borrowdale and Henry McKenzie.

She attended Gillespie‘s school for girls.

At the age of 23 she married and emigrated with her husband, Bert, to Toronto, Canada.

By 1966 the family settled in Willowdale (North York).

Olive had a passionate love of music and spent her life time teaching piano, theory, and history of music. For many years she volunteered her time with Canadian Music Competitions (CMC) organizing concerts for up-and-coming young classical Canadian artists. She was equally passionate about knitting and created thousands of beautifully hand-crafted garments which she loved to sell at local craft shows.

Having grown up with cats and dogs, Olive was an animal lover. For years she fostered sick and injured cats and donated generously to their safety and well-being.

“Olivia” will be fondly remembered as a sweet lady who was loved by all. Her infectious laugh and sparkly eyes will never be forgotten. She is deeply missed.

Our sincere heartfelt thanks to Dr. Soowamber at Mount Sinai, and at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, Dr.’s Singh and Mehta, et al, and the wonderful nursing team for their support and care of our dearest mum.

A service and celebration of life reception will be held Wednesday April 27, 2022 at 3pm at BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 5295 Thickson Road North, Whitby.
