Kissel AnneKISSEL, Anne   -  Anne Kissel in her 105th year passed away suddenly and peacefully at Hillsdale Terraces, Oshawa on Easter Sunday evening, April 17th, 2022 with loving health care staff at her bedside and family present.

Beloved wife of the late Michael Kissel.

Loving mother of Ray (Catherine) of Oshawa, Gerald of Edmonton and the late Leslie Kissel (Charles Kinch) of Denman Island, BC.

Dear grandmother of James (Emma), Alex (Shannon) and Annie and great-grandmother of Lakelynne and Kai.

Anne was born at home in the north end of Winnipeg beside a wood stove. As a youth she learned the traditions of her Ukrainian culture, enjoyed attending school, excelled at playing basketball and attending CGIT programmes and especially summer camps.

Her career as a skilled seamstress in the furrier industry ended when she married a high school classmate and began her family life. Living in Winnipeg, Regina and eventually Sarnia, her efforts were focused on raising her family and trying to provide the things which were not available to her when growing up including advanced education.

Anne was always willing to help out and provided support to PTA, Girl Guides and CWL activities and she willingly shared her talents and knowledge.

Her hobbies included rug hooking, gardening, embroidery and quilt making.

Later in life she moved to Oshawa to be closer to her family and enjoyed the last years of her life living at Hillsdale Terraces where she was loved by residents and staff alike.

Anne was a strong woman and role model who maintained her sharp wit and humour to the end.

The family is requesting that attendees please wear a mask at the visitation and at the Memorial Mass.
