MacASKILL, Gordon MacAskill   -  Passed away peacefully on April 21, 2022, at home in Whitby, ON.

At his side was his wife of 66 years, Mona.

He leaves behind four children - Robert (Carol), David (Cathy), Brian (Alexandra) and Debbie (Kevin) Murray; ten grandchildren - Michael (Alice), Daniel (Gabi), Stephanie (Justin) Neals, Chris (Amanda), Matt (Andrea), Miranda, Grace, Cameron (Amy) Murray, Katelyn and Kristen; and great-grandson Braxton.

Gordon was a generous man who gave more than he ever took. Hallmarked by integrity and ingenuity, his 39-year career with BMO spanned a rise from Branch Clerk to Vice President, where he mentored and encouraged all around him to their fullest potential.

Renowned for his kindness, his legacy of caring is secured by a lifetime of charitable works for many, most notably Children’s Miracle Network (Board of Trustees), IWK Children’s Hospital, Janeway Children’s Hospital and Stairs Memorial United Church Food Bank (NDORC.)

As a Rotarian, Gordon spearheaded fundraising for Iris Kirby House (providing a safe haven to women and children in St John’s Newfoundland.)

A devout Elder of the United Methodist Church, his unshakable faith anchored the principles that guided him through life’s storms.

To Mona, he was the foundation and support that nurtured their loving bond, a faithful lifetime partner that sacredly honoured her and their vows, truly until death did they part. To his children, he was a hero who filled every role expected of a father, a deeply loved dad who was appreciated for his unending guidance and encouragement. To his grandkids, he was a fountain of happiness and joy, a Papa who always had a twinkle in his eye and pride in his heart for their accomplishments. To his friends, he was a tower of wisdom and loyalty, a trusted friend who always took a special interest in their lives and passions.

Grieved by those he left behind, we celebrate that he has been welcomed into Heaven and waits to reunite with us there.

Fueral arrangements with Mount Lawn Funeral Home, Whitby, ON, on May 1st, 2-4pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Stairs Memorial United Church in Dartmouth, NS at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation to North Dartmouth Outreach Resource Centre (NDORC) Food Bank would be deeply appreciated at 44 Hester St. Dartmouth, NS B3A 1K2.
