Mauro GiuseppeMAURO, Giuseppe Mauro    -  August 1, 1937 – May 15, 2022

Aged 84 of Whitby, Ontario, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Sunday May 15th, 2022.

Giuseppe - better known as Joe - was born August 1st, 1937 in Malito, Italy and spent most of his youth in Rome - the city he loved.

He immigrated to Canada as a young man in his early 20’s with his parents, Pasquale and Ida, and younger siblings Romano and Maria-Teresa.

He was the beloved husband of Anna (nee Codispoti) and proud father of Aldo (Dayaxna), Elisa (Amin) and Sandra (David).

Joe was extremely proud to be called Nonno by his gaggle of grandchildren: Sofia, Noah, Luca, Dexter, Sacha, Sebastian, Harper and Aldo Samuel.

Joe was an individual who was extremely proud to have become a citizen of the beautiful country of Canada, and always noted and acknowledged how his work in Durham Region, particularly with General Motors, provided him and his family with many opportunities.

Joe enjoyed countless hours in his garden and found much joy spending time outdoors and hunting with his friends. Joe took his family to many dinner dances and a plethora of weddings within his Italian community and certainly was known to dance a wonderful tarantella with a sparkle in his eye.

His wife, his children and their families invite his extended family and friends to gather and remember Joe on Thursday May 19th at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) with visitation from 10:00-11:00am, a short chapel service commencing at 11:00am, and a reception to follow.

An entombment will take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 355 Taunton Road, Whitby at 1:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Giuseppe “Joe” Mauro to Lakeridge Health Foundation to further advance the services available and support the community he loved.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at  oshawafuneralservices.com for the Mauro family.
