Lockwood WilliamLOCKWOOD, William “Bill“  -  It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of William (Bill) E. Lockwood, beloved husband, father, and papa, on May 24, 2022, peacefully in his sleep at Lakeridge Health Hospital.

Bill lived a wonderful rich life to the age of 81.

After 40 years in General Motors in various positions, he retired in 1999 in supervisory in the Quality Assurance Department of the car plant.

Bill had a love of sports and the outdoors, and actively participated in curling and baseball and was a player for the Vikings Rugby team in his youth.

He enjoyed many years of fishing and trailer life with family and friends at Lake Bernard in Sundridge, and more recently on Sturgeon Lake in Bobcaygeon.

As a member of the Oshawa Curling Club for more than 50 years, he traveled the country competing in bonspiels and curled up until the pandemic temporarily closed the club.

Throughout the years he played ball with his boys and finally retired his glove with the Oshawa Seniors’ League at the age of 78.  Lounging in the pool was another favourite pastime.

Bill will be deeply missed by his wife Carol, sons Jeff and Neil, daughter Roanne, and grandsons Connor (Reagan Feher) and Nathan. Bill is predeceased by his beloved sister and brother-in-law Lois and Ron Duffy, and it gives us comfort knowing they are together again. He will be greatly missed by sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy and Barry Gray of Port Hope, his nieces Susan Visneski and Dianne Duffy, his nephew Scott Duffy (Tammy) and their families.

He was always there for his family and could be counted on for sage advice, and his patience always created a teaching moment. Bill was a leader, mentor, role model, and friend to so many and his guidance will be missed. His humour and good nature were infectious to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Respected and well-liked, Bill touched many lives.

Please join us June 4, 2022 between 1 and 5 pm at the Oshawa Curling Club, 226 Bond Street East, and raise a glass in salute of Bill.

Donations in Bill's memory can be made to AAMAC to benefit Myelodysplasia research or the Oshawa Curling Club.

Online condolences may be shared at makfuneralhome.com.
