Bourdon FrankBOURDON, Frank Sydney    -  It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father Frank Bourdon on May 30th, 2022 in his 96th year.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Dorothy, to whom he was married for 68 years.

His two sons Greg (Maryse) and Gary, cherished granddaughters Serena (Paul) and Amy (Jacob).

His sisters Patricia and Molly of the U.K., and many nieces and nephews in Canada, the U.K. and Australia.

Predeceased by his brother Len, Frank was born to Charles and Catherine Bourdon in Hackney, London, England on July 1st, 1926.

At just 17 years of age, Frank enlisted with the British Army and trained in Ireland.

He was deployed as an infantryman with the Royal Welch Fusiliers in Belgium and Germany during the final months of WW2.

After the war, he met his wife Dorothy and they were married on the 11th of July, 1953 in Ruislip, England.

As work was scarce in post-war England, they followed Frank’s brother Len out to Canada where Frank found work as a machinist at A.V. Row and then at S.K.F. in Scarborough.

They settled in Scarborough where they raised their two sons.

Frank finally retired in 1987 from the Toronto Sun newspaper, a company he loved working for in its heyday, maintaining and repairing the large printing presses they had at the time.

Frank and Dot did some traveling and spent many winters in Cocoa Beach, Florida making many friends there.

A kind and humble man, Frank was a lifetime donor to many charitable organizations.

He will also be remembered for his quick-wit and sense of humour.

Our family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Lakeview Manor in Beaverton. Your care of our father this past year was over and above and is greatly appreciated.

Dad/Gramps, after a long life well lived, you will be in our hearts forever.

Rest in peace soldier.

As per Frank’s wishes, in lieu of flowers charitable donations can be made to the Sunnybrook Foundation or to War Amps Canada.
