D'ONOFRIO, Lucia - Suddenly on August 22, 2022 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, in her 99th year.
Predeceased by her husband Michele, sister Christina (Andrea Tavone) and brother Tonino (Filomena).
Loving Mother to Lou (Jane) and Frank (Barb).
Nonna to Michael (Frances), Sara, Laura (Ryan), Jason and Julien (Tabeeda). Nonna Lucy to Frankie and Emilia.
Fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Nicolina (Mario) and brother-in-law Guido.
Lovingly remembered as Zia Lucia to her nieces and nephews including Sandra, Marina, Alessandra, Giuseppina, Roberto, Andrew, Ercole and Giovanni.
Special thanks for the great care and compassion she received from the wonderful team at Hillsdale Estates, Trillium Trail.
Lucia was born in Bonefro, Italia in 1924. She emigrated to Canada in 1963 where she operated a small ethnic grocery store in Oshawa, introducing Italian cooking to neighbours and customers.
Lucia lived a long and full life. Fiercely independent, she tackled life with much gusto day in and day out.
She will be greatly missed.
Arrangements are with Mount Lawn Funeral Home. Interment at MOUNT LAWN CEMETERY .
The family are welcoming flowers to the funeral home or donations to Alzheimer Society of Durham Region.
