Beloved husband and best friend of Janet (nee Casey) for 56 years.

Loving father of Kathy (John) and Richard (Angie).

Son of the late Aart and Wilhelmina (Voskuilen). Cherished Pops of Carly, Thomas, Ian, Jason, Sarah, and Chalaine.

Dear brother of Martin (late Henny), Joanne Toonen (late Frank), late Hank (Marie), Ann Van Lankveld (late Mike), late Bertha (Carl) de Groot, Rita (late Ferg) Murphy, Keith (Judy), Willy (late Lorne) Wilbur, Jane (Paul) McCabe , and Joe (Debbie), and the late Arie.

John will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

John enjoyed life to the fullest. He and Janet enjoyed many years of travel around the world as well as travel across North America with their fifth wheel. They made friends everywhere they went.

John tirelessly volunteered, including assisting in his children’s various sports teams, Knights of Columbus, and Saint Vincent de Paul’s Feed the Need.

He is fondly remembered for his amazing sense of humour, his kindness and his contributions to his community.

John enjoyed working at LASCO Steel for 36 years, where he made many good friends, whom he enjoyed meeting with regularly at Tim Hortons and their annual luncheons after his retirement.

A special thank you to the numerous healthcare providers at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa for the care and compassion of John and for the support of our family.

Cremation has taken place and a mass and celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Feed the Need.

"We will miss you everyday but you live on in our hearts and souls forever. Our gift of how to love life and still have room in your heart for others is one we will share with each other and those around us."
