CALOGERO, Pasquale (Pat) Calogero - APRIL 1, 1938 – OCTOBER 27, 2022
Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the age of 84.
Beloved husband of Nancy. Loving father of Rosy.
Caring brother (brother-in-law) of Antonietta (Franco), Angelina (the late Vincenzo), Filomena (Mario), and is predeceased by his brothers Ferdinando (1974) and Pasquale (1936).
Son of the late Francesco Paolo and Rosa Vita of Banzi, Province of Potenza, Italy.
Zio/Uncle Pat will be deeply missed by all his nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A barber by trade, Pat gave decades of haircuts on Cedar St. in South Oshawa.
In his early days, however, Pat studied horticultural and loved being on the land cultivating and growing acres of asparagus, tomatoes, and peppers, and pruning and grafting to create trees or grape vines that produced several varieties in one.
His other hobbies included chopping felled trees for firewood, making maple syrup, hunting, running the wood stove.
He loved to treat family and friends to bottles of his homemade syrup, sprays of asparagus, baskets of tomatoes and peppers, zucchini, pumpkins, etc.
If you came home to a treat on your porch, you knew dad had stopped by (because he never called ahead). Pat will be remembered by all for his generosity, humour, flawless memory, stories of ancestors and the old days, and his old-fashioned respect.
Pasquale was an April Fool’s baby, born April 1, 1938, so it is fitting his funeral be held on All Saints’ Day, does it not?
All are welcome to the visitation, which will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Tuesday, November 1 between the hours of 4pm and 8pm, and to the service which will be held the following morning Wednesday, November 2 at 10:30am, also at the Oshawa Funeral Home.
