PETEK, Josephine (Jo or Josie)   -   Passed away at Lakeridge Hospital, Oshawa, on October 31, 2022, after her battle with lung cancer.

She peacefully slipped away with her husband, Dave, and sister, Mary, holding her hands.

Passing in her 64th year, she was far too young for her early departure and will be dearly missed by all.

Predeceased by her mother, Neza (nee Zgajnar) Petek (1980) and father, Joseph Petek (2019).

She is survived by her stepmother, Pauline Petek; brother, Ryan; sister, Mary; daughter, Michelle; sons, Adam and Alex; and their families.

Her husband, Dave Kernoghan, and their young sons, Hayden and Theos, will lovingly keep her alive in their hearts and minds as they move forward pursuing the life that she created and wanted for them.

Her extended family, friends and acquaintances also enjoyed Jo's loving nature and kindness. Her creative endeavors were far ranging and enjoyed by many, whether they knew her or not.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, November 26th, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 606, 1555 Bayly St., Pickering, ON L1W 2Z1.  Swap some stories, have a drink and a light lunch.

Bring a smile and you are welcome to donate some non-perishable food items for Hayden Petek's Food Drive, in lieu of flowers.

This is his Cub Scout service project and Jo would have loved the idea of helping him in giving to those in need.

May we all give half as much love, joy and caring as Jo did.

It would make for a far greater world to live in.
