McLean MarlynMcLEAN, Marlyn Doreen (nee Gunderson) McLean   -  APRIL 22, 1933 – DECEMBER 29, 2022

Passed peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on December 29, 2022. She was born on April 22, 1933 in Kinistino, Saskatchewan.

Marlyn was predeceased by her parents, Melvin and Ella; brother Mervin (Norma).

She is survived by her children, Barbara (Mark), Richard (Claudine), and Bradley (Jennifer); grandchildren, Kathleen (Adam), Timothy (Christopher), Andrew (Ruya), Rebecca (Lee), Ella, and Theo; great grandchildren, Lauren and Ilyas. She will be deeply missed by many other relatives and close friends.

Amongst raising three children, Marlyn had a rewarding career as a Registered Nurse. Graduating in Saskatoon in 1954, Marlyn served at Saskatoon City Hospital for nine years. She then transferred to the Saskatchewan Air Ambulance Service in 1963, where she remained until her retirement as Senior Flight Nurse in 1993.

Through a variety of aircraft, weather situations, day or night, and questionable rural landing points, Marlyn ensured the utmost care for her medical evacuation patients until handed over to Paramedics for the final transport to Hospital. In all situations presented to her, Marlyn's professionalism and dedication assisted in countless lives being saved.

Following her retirement, Marlyn was recognized by the Saskatchewan Aviation Council with the Distinguished Airman Award, for her service to Saskatchewan Aviation. Her name is amongst other aviation professionals currently on display at the Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport. She was also recognised by the Saskatchewan Government upon her retirement, for her exemplary years of public service to the citizens of Saskatchewan. Marlyn remained in Saskatoon until 2005, where she moved to British Columbia, then to Ontario. Marlyn was a two-time breast cancer survivor - once during her career and once in retirement.

Marlyn enjoyed traveling. For many years she took a well deserved and warm break from Saskatchewan winters, to holiday in Barbados. She also enjoyed visiting her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends, wherever they were, throughout Canada and Australia. She also had a passion for watching Curling, Tennis and Football on TV, at the same time productively completing many, many crocheted wool afghan's for family, friends, and sent as gifts around the world.
