DiCECCO, Carla DiCecco   -  1956 - 2023

Carla Elisabeth DiCecco passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on January 13, 2023.

Carla was born in the Netherlands on December 22, 1956.

Her family moved to Canada in 1958 and eventually settled in Pickering Village, where she attended St. Francis de Sales School and then Pickering High School.

Carla graduated with a Bachelor of Education and worked for the Toronto Catholic District School Board. Most of her career was spent as a primary teacher at St. Theresa Shrine Catholic School. She retired from St. Nicholas Catholic School.

Throughout her life Carla loved to travel. In the later years of her career and into retirement, Carla was actively involved in the behind-the-scenes costume production and make-up departments for a number of little-theatre companies. She was very creative in so many ways.

Carla is predeceased by her husband, John, her father, Willem van den Heuvel, her brother-in-law Thomas Grainger, mother-in-law Lina DiCecco, father-in-law Louis DiCecco, sister-in-law Carmella DiCecco, and brothers-in-law Joey DiCecco and John Cwalinski.
She is survived by her loving mother, Margarete van den Heuvel.

She was the caring sister of Andy van den Heuvel (Janet), Miriam Cosentino (Jens) and Yvonne Grainger (AL).

She was a wonderful aunt to Sonja, Alycia, Nicholas, Colin, Daniel, Bennett, Noah, Tristan, David, Laurie, Leanne, Tanya, Kathy, Michael, and Elena. Beloved sister-in-law to Louise DiCecco, Vicki Cowdrey(Joe) Joanne Cwalinski, and Vince DiCecco.

Special thanks to the caring and attentive staff of Lakeridge Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ajax Lakeridge Gardens 5th floor west recreation department to support their arts and crafts activities, and celebrations, or to the SickKids hospital.
