Paterson JamesPATERSON, James Cornell “Jim” Paterson -

October 2, 1947 - March 8, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Jim passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday March 8th, 2023 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jim is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Betty, and their children Ian and Lindsay, and Lynsey and Drew Fraser.

He is the proud and adored Grampie to Lucas, Harper and Scottie.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, May and Jim Paterson, and his sister Linda Phillips.

Jim will be fondly and lovingly remembered by Allan, Jim, Roy and Doreen Youngman, his many nieces and nephews, as well as friends and colleagues.

As a long-time employee at the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club, Jim created some of the best curling ice in the region for over 38 years, only retiring after last season. It was his privilege to have some of the top elite curlers in the country practice on his ice over the past few years.

During the summer months Jim enjoyed hitting the open road on his motorcycle, and relaxing with a beer on the porch or lawn swing with Betty and Clarke. Jim’s face would light up when he spoke of and saw his beautiful grandchildren, and he thoroughly enjoyed their company.

A friend to all, Jim with be remembered for his kind, gentle, and quiet nature.

Please join the family as they celebrate Jim’s life and share their fondest memories at  ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Wednesday March 15, 2023 from 4pm to 8pm.  A private service will be held for family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Port Perry Hospice or the Durham Hospice Building Fund.

Messages of condolence, and shared memories, can be left for the family by visiting armstrongfh.ca .
