VOUSDEN, Edith Mae Vousden  -
1935 - 2023

On Thursday, March 16, 2023 our beloved Edith Mae Vousden (nee: McCreight) passed away with family members by her side. Edith was born in Timmins Ontario to Thelma and Ernest McCreight was a sister to Sam, Bruce, Muriel, June and Alex and sister-in-law to Anne, Anne, Doug, George and Elizabeth.

Edith was lucky enough to have two wonderful men in her life, her first husband Hilary Vousden who died in 1978, and her beloved partner Colin Barrand who passed in 2020.

She was a devoted mother to Lucy, Tim, Tracy, Randy, Mary and Eric and mother-in-law to Suzy, Paul, Sharon, Tina, Paul and Ornella. She was step-mother to John, Kelly, Christine, Danny and Pat and step mother-in-law to Warren, Stephen and Dave.
Edith's great grand-daughter Sooji started calling Edith Super Grandma and I can't think of a better title for her.

She was a loving grandmother to, Terry, John Paul, Robert, Jenna, Geoffrey, Gaelan, Liam, Andrea, Adam, Jason, Nathanial, Mandy, Melissa, George, Dwight, Derek, Corey, William, Melissa and Luke and a great (super) grandmother to, Sooji, Jeeah, Lucy, Leah, Liv, Joshua, Jesse, Jaxon, Aubrey, Harrison, and Remi-Rose.

Edith was a kind and patient mother who could be tough when she needed to be. Her grandchildren don't believe that because to all of them she was their sweet and loving grandma.

Edith experienced loss and difficulties in her life all of which she handled with a courage, strength and grace that was truly an example to us all.

Edith's first priority was always her family and she will always be in our hearts.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fairview Lodge in Whitby where she spent the last 4 years of her life while struggling with Alzheimer's. The staff provided her with a loving and safe environment and for that we are truly grateful.

A celebration of life for Edith will be held on April 23rd, 2023 from 1:00-5:00pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Claremont.
