CROSSMAN, Lois Doreen (Thompson) -
October 16, 1925 - March 25, 2023
Lois Doreen (Thompson) Crossman, the matriarch of our family, passed away peacefully on March 25th, 2023, at Hillsdale Estates Oshawa at the age of 97.
Lois was the daughter of the late Sadie and Art Thompson and the eldest of their four children: Lois (Thompson) Crossman (deceased), Harry Thompson (deceased), Doris (Thompson) Wood, and Murray Thompson (deceased).
Lois was a life-long resident of Oshawa and married W. Rea Crossman in 1943.
They had four children: Connie (Terry) Vail, Sharon (Bob) Montgomery, Gail (Connie Dupuis) Crossman and Art (deceased) (Valerie) Crossman.
The next generation of Grandchildren include: Gord (deceased), Greg (Sue) and Jesse Vail, Rob (Heidi) and Kris (Jackie) Montgomery, Jennifer (Morgan) Wheeldon, Breanne (Anthony) Ciacco and Derek (Elysia Bullock) Crossman.
Great Grandchildren: Emma, Matt, Meagan, Liam, Jasper, Jameson, Nora, Frances, Ellis, Sophia, and Max.
Lois became a widow when Rae died at a young age, and she was left to raise their children on her own. She went back to school at Durham College, took Bookkeeping course and started working at Jack Fraser as a part-time bookkeeper, then a full time career at Lasco Steel doing their payroll. Lois retired from Lasco at age 65.
She was also active in the community: a member of St. Stephen’s United Church and their UCWA, a founding member of Oshawa Parents without Partners, and delivered Meals on Wheels. But most will remember Lois for her award-winning apple and peach pies, her stylish clothes, and her love to dance.
Rest in peace, Mom, and we hope you and Dad are dancing once again to Big Band music.
Many thanks to the caring staff at Hillsdale Estates. You are special people.
